Darren Alexander has quit as alderman of the City of Launceston council.

Mr Alexander made the announcement during the council’s meeting on Monday after tendering his resignation that morning.

“Today will be my last day as an alderman of this great city,” Mr Alexander told his colleagues at the meeting.

“I have truly enjoyed my time on the City of Launceston council and, more importantly, I’ve enjoyed working with all aldermen throughout this term.

“I believe that is why this group of aldermen will go down in history as being one of the most collegiate group of people that have achieved so much in this four year period for the city of Launceston.”
