A PASSIONATE TASMANIAN
Hi, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Darren Alexander. I was born in Burnie, grew up in Queenstown and Lived in Hobart for over 15 years at Tolman’s Hill. For the past 5 years I have lived in Launceston running my successful IT business Autech Software.
I ran for and became an Alderman on the Launceston City Council to advocate for the Launceston business community that I was and am still part of. I have enjoyed my time on the Launceston City Council, during which time I have represented the City of Launceston as:
- Chair of the Economic Development Committee
- Chair of the City Heart Reference Group
- Sat as one of 4 Council Committee members on the Transformation UTAS project
- Member of the Tender Review Committee.
For the past year I have spent at least three and a half days a week in Hobart working on my new business Beetle Black Media, and my wife and I have decided it’s time to come home to Hobart.
Hobart and Tasmania have enormous potential for success
- Darren Alexander
The reason why is because I really think the one thing Hobart right now is missing is common sense leadership. I know that my passion for Hobart as a city and my experience with governance and business management make me the ideal candidate for Lord Mayor and Alderman on the Hobart City Council.
Don't just take it from me - you can see what others say too.
A STRONG LEADER
I believe a strong leader truly cares about their constituents, and has the ability to serve and lead them well. I am extremely passionate about supporting Tasmanian people, communities and businesses, and I have the qualifications and experience necessary to improve Hobart and in turn the lives of its citizens.
I am an award-winning Chief Executive Officer, with over 20 years managerial and client handling experience. My strong leadership of my award-winning business Autech Software has led me to be recognised as an expert in the telecommunications industry. I have previously served as President of Tas ICT - the peak industry body for telecommunications in Tasmania - and have been invited to speak at three senate enquiries on the importance of reliable telecommunications.
"Darren Alexander has been a major driver of technology and telecommunications in Tasmania"
- David Bartlett, Former Premier
I have a logical approach to achieving objectives, strong critical thinking skills, the ability to plan and manage time effectively and play many different roles within team frameworks. I thrive in team and board-based environments, and my extensive experience and achievements have proven my ability to manage and lead people in high-pressure environments.
AN INNOVATIVE THINKER
